Why did you take me on this path to sow
Seeds of discrepancy from what they’re told
Challenge believers to stray from the fold
Pharisees, Saducees made up the rules
Changing God’s meaning to train them like fools
Adding to Sabbath Day burdens and yokes
Leading the sheep on a path that’s a hoax
Leave the man crippled or you’re not a Jew
Every rule followed, exceptions won’t do
Act of His love God sent Jesus His Son
Breaking the rules for our freedom to run
Freedom to hear what God wants us to do
Jesus the Lamb of God makes all things new
History would tell us it’s happened before
Many a time when God opened a door
Abraham ready to kill his own son
Promised’ descendents amounted to none
If he obeyed the word he heard from God
How was he better than Allah’s jihad
Righteous was Abraham for he believed
Isaac survived, with his wife they conceived
Many descendants like sand on the shore
God’s ways aren’t our ways, examples galore
Joseph the dreamer would lead his whole tribe
Brothers thought better to sell his young hide
Lust from his master’s wife fought to the end
Lying adulteress, truth could not bend
Left in a prison to ponder his fate
Served his God faithfully, promise would wait
Then one day Joseph interpreted dreams
Pharaoh’s chief butler forgot him it seems
Downcast yet Joseph served faithfully still
Serving Almighty, desiring His will
Suddenly Pharaoh’s disturbed by a dream
Hears about Joseph, it’s time to redeem
Rahab the harlot deceiver of men
Helped out the Israelites lying again
Traded her people, assisted the spies
Won her redemption when she told her lies
Marry a virgin; don’t stray from this rule
Prophet Hosea appeared as a fool
Followed commandment to marry a whore
Suffered with Gomer, she wanted much more
Cheating with others her faithless heart cold
Seeking her passions with men and their gold
Wanting her love drove Hosea to chase
After his heart’s love to hold and embrace
God sent His only Son Jesus to die
Paying our penalty His blood did buy
Freedom to leave lives of evil behind
Wanting our own will, His way seems to bind
We are the harlots, the Gomers today
Seeking out riches, desiring to play
Tell us the rules we can quickly obey
Doing our penance to keep wrath at bay
