Lord. When you consider your creation, all of your bountiful handiwork, do you see anything but beauty and perfection, experience anything but delight and pleasure at the work of your hands? When all of creation stirs at first light, do you wait with anticipation for the signs and sounds of life that welcome the new day?
Do you hold your breath in wonder as my eyelids flicker open and first thoughts enter my mind? Do you wait for me to turn, look out the window and see you there?
And as each of us wakes from sleep, do you look ahead to see what the next 24 hours will bring for us and long for what is to come? In the beauty of your holiness and the presence of angelic hosts singing your praise, are your thoughts toward my one small life? How can this be?
Yet, your word tells me this is so. You are mindful of me. I praise you for your love and for your goodness to me Lord. My desire is for you, to know you, to learn from you and obey you, to speak of you, to serve you in this generation. My waking desire is to bow my life to you today as an act of worship to the only true God and my friend.
May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight, oh Lord. Amen.
