How hard it is to find
a moment of solitude
when the duties of life
are not constantly
knocking at my door,
to-do lists a never-ending
babble in my mind,
stress and pressure
tap dancing on my back.
Here in the beauty of your woods,
my heart slows to the rhythm
of the gently swaying trees.
The babble in my mind is hushed
as the music of the woods
lifts my soul with praises
to my Creator.
Your presence is alive
in the very earth and
I want to stand among the trees
until my roots grow down
into the deep, rich soil,
soaking in your life-giving nutrients,
and peace is once more
a part of my existence,
the peace that only comes
from dwelling in your deep woods solitude.
