"Thus by their fruits you will recognise them." Matthew 7:20
I love fruit. A good piece of fruit is such a treat! The fragrance it emmits and the taste it yields is almost indescribable. It brings pleasure, nourishment, and refreshment and it is pleasing to the senses. A PERFECT piece of fruit is firm, and yields to touch. It is sweet, flavorful, and pleasing. How does good fruit come about? Pardon me while I recount a little botany 101 :) First, a seed is carefully planted. Some seeds spread by the flesh(an insect or animal some even hitch a ride on a furry mammal :), some spread by the wind. The land where the wind takes them and if they land in fertile soil, there they are planted. The seed then grows to become a beautiful healthy plant. That plant grows and yields colorful blooms, and later, in the autumn, close to the harvest time(this is important) the plant yields a fruit. At first the fruit is a little small, a little green, a little hard and even a little bitter. But as it is showered by rain and sun(Son), it soon grows and becomes sweet and tender(amen!). Whoever eats this delicious, ripe fruit is surely blessed by its quality and nourishment. Good fruit starts as a teeny, tiny seed. No one knows where it will go, what will become of it. But that seed is planted and for a long time, we do not see it. Yet, in due time it yields a prosperous plant which yields ripe fruit, for the harvest. To grow a good fruit you need sun, water and time. God has all 3. He has a powerful Son, Living Water and patience unending. Some plants take longer to produce fruit than others, that is ok, God knows when they are ready. He is still faithful. When we produce good fruit in our lives, the work of Gods hands shows, and when we plant seeds, we grow and produce more fruit and by our fruit, we are know.
