God always has a way of using crisis to shake us out of complacency. Notwithstanding, there are many things that I can go through in life which wont affect my conscience, but to a much larger degree, can break Gods heart. The bible tells me in Psalms 32 if I do not hide my sin, but i am open with it, confess it and give it to God then He would forgive me. Often times, I found myself asking for forgiveness without knowing why I even wanted to be forgiven, other than simply knowing it's "bad".
Thinking about it, when I first heard the phrase, "catch a glimpse of God's heart", or more completely, catch a glimpse of His heart for Mankind. Theres a reason, I know, why people in the bible ask "Who is man, that you are mindful of him?" (Psalms 8). God's heart for man isn't something we'd be able to truly feel, but if we have a glimpse of how much he loves us despite the fact that He holds the universe in the palm of His hand, then we can understand how doing something that would little affect our hearts, could break His. I'm searching my heart for what I can offer to Him and there really is nothing we can offer except to deny ourselves and what sin we have wrought on ourselves.
Forgiveness stands because my Saviour fell. But thank God that He is risen! If only I could understand to the fullest what that grace and mercy meant to save someone like me. So much depth in Gods love( Eph. 3:17-18 ) and here I stand unaware, and even unwilling to discover how great it is. Being forgiven doesn't mean to know what you did is bad and tell Him you're sorry. You seek forgiveness because holding onto your sin means that your sin actually holds you. And when you seek forgiveness, genuine forgiveness because you know you have separated yourself from the One whose love will never ever fail (wow), then you'll know the truth of God's love when it takes over your sin and sets you free (John 8:32).
Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD "—and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah
If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Now I have better understanding of true forgiveness through God's example. Thanks for the reminder. May God bestows abundant blessings to you today, your Birthday:)and always.
