"Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel"
The Word says Immanuel means "God with us." Have you ever though of the phrase "God with us?" Up until recently I had always imagined to mean that in some supernatural sense, Gods presence was upon us physically in that moment. And surely, He is. God is, and will always be, in our presence wherever we go (Joshua 1:9).
But now that you come to realize the sacrifices God made in order to come into this messy world and save us. He became one like us, tempted and tried, subject to the sicknesses and maliciousness of this world but yet remained sinless. To imagine going from living in a timeless existence where everything was perfect and glorious, and sacrificing that to come to a world so many people are dying to get out of to save us from ourselves, God is literally with us. To think that two thousand and some change years ago, there walked God in man form on the same soil that we walk on (though not specifically here, since I reside in Ca), but to think of that as a reality, and not a far moved mystical thought, you realize that God intentionally came here to be with us. And with His Son, He said to cast all your burdens on him (Mat 11:28). Not the ones you're primarily concerned about, but ALL of them, and to be able to worry about NOTHING knowing that God will provide for you if your heart is faithful and trusting of who He is.
Think about your friend who comes up to you when you're about to walk through coals of fire (yes, literally, because this happens often, right?) and you know for a fact it will be tough (painful, more like), and he taps you and says "Hey I'm with you..better yet, here, jump on my back and I'll carry you across these coals so you can continue on."
God is with us. Amen! As a mom of two young adult children, I find solace in knowing God hears my prayers for their guidance and protection believing God will be with them wherever they go. Keep on writing for God. You are a blessing to many.
