Become an Overcomer 6/17/08
Please give me Your calm assurance
Of Your Holy power and strength,
That You will give me Your guidance
In going to every length.
There is now set before me
A goal that I must attain,
And I must be able to see
All in Your will that contains.
A call has been made to repentance,
And I must heed straightaway.
I must remove all hindrance,
You must make my path clear today.
This problem has been plaguing me
For quite some time we both know.
I have known that ultimately,
This sin in my life must go.
I've made excuses on my behalf,
To keep from giving up my idol,
And I've been afraid of Your staff,
Coming to break the cycle.
So let me now on my own,
Walk silently the other way,
But let me always make it known,
It was the Lord who saved the day,
By convicting me of my sin,
And letting me know He could conquer.
It is only with Him I can win,
And become an overcomer.
