I recall Jesus saying 'He who is without sin, cast the first stone,' as people were apt to stone a poor woman who had been guilty of adultery.
I'm not sinless, no. And I may be wrong in saying what I think. You see, I am not responsible for the spiritual leadership of millions of Catholic believers.
I don't stand at the pulpit every Sunday preaching the Gospel, whilst knowing in my heart, I am a member of an organisation who chose to cover up 'sins' of priests!
Let me say now, I am not judging the sins of priests' sexual abuse against children! [Even though I find this abuse physically and emotionally repulsive].As a mother and grandmother, any thoughts of that behaviour towards mine,or, other children, for that matter, I admit, I would use any form of behaviour to defend them!
Yet, what really galls me, is the fact that these so called 'holy men', these academics, who are in cushy jobs, and let me reiterate, these are cushy jobs, men walking around with titles, bishops, archbishops, cardinals etc, [you may note that I will not use capital letters to distinguish these people],use memory lapses to deviate from their responsibility!
Today in Australia, we have a bishop and archbishop on the front page of the West Australia Newspaper.
An adult male has told his story regarding a certain priest. He even has a police taped conversation whereby the priest has openly admitted his crime against this man.
The response from the hierarchy? We don't remember!` So much was going on at the time, etc., etc.,
Which leaves me, a 55 year old so called Catholic, who happily left that title behind her, several years ago!
But has my faith been compromised? NO!
I walk with God every second of the day.I watch, learn and listen. I act. I rebel and I will continue to rebel against any form of deceit from any religious organisation.
I am disgusted to think I have been labelled a Catholic, even though my gorgeous parents felt they were doing the right thing at their time, to baptize me in the name of their church.
So God bless my parents, God Bless all who read this.
