Oh, breath of God revive my spirit
All my strength is only in vain
Teach me I alone have no merit

For your kingdom may I be fit
May your grace I always obtain
Oh, breath of God revive my spirit

My own efforts will not profit
Except all my strength to drain
Teach me I alone have no merit

Lord, please donít let me be a misfit
Your glory in my life please ordain
Oh, breath of God revive my spirit

Help me not accept a counterfeit
Your chosen path make very plain
Teach me I alone have no merit

Worldly things provide no benefit
Help me from them to abstain
Oh, breath of God revive my spirit
Teach me I alone have no merit

(This poem is a Villanelle.)
