On Christmas Eve, I went to the grocery store for last minute Christmas items. As I waited in the line, I thumbed through a magazine until it was almost my turn to check out. After I put the magazine back on the shelf, I noticed that the customer in front of me was buying about 10-20 cans of cat food and a jug of water, that totaled about $10. It brought back memories of stories that I have heard about senior citizens eating cat food for survival. Then I looked at the customer. He was a senior. He was also dirty and appeared to have soiled his pants. If I were to guess, I'd even say he was homeless. I have no doubt in my mind that the Fancy Feast Cat food was for him. My heart just broke in half. After he paid, he smiled at the cashier and he left. I watched as the cashier and bag person stared and snickered at him.
This whole scene reminds me of JESUS and his Apostles. They were homeless and laughed at too...1 Corinthians 4:11. Seems that people haven't changed much in the last 2000 years. When you sit down to eat your FANCY FEAST this holiday season, be glad that you get that opportunity, because there are people near you, that don't.
