Full Of God
There are people that are full of God, and there are people that are full of themselves. You may remember the story of David and Goliath. One day Goliath approached the army of Israel and challenged them to send out a man to fight with him. None of the Israelites accepted the challenge because all of them were filled with themselves, none of them were full of God. How do I know that were filled with themselves and not filled with God? Because God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mine. They were filled with fear, they were filled with themselves. David, on the other hand was filled with God, for he had no fear. Also David was just a boy, he had not had time to get filled with himself. All David knew was that God was with him when he faced a lion and when he faced a bear, and he believed that God would be with him if he faced this giant. He knew that he was anointed by God ,David was filled with God. What are you filled with?

The bible says that when Moses was forty years old it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel. And seeing one of the being wronged by an Egyptian Moses killed the Egyptian. For he supposed that his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them, but they understood not. Here we see Moses kill a man. Here we can see that we can be full of courage and at the same time be full of ourselves. Moses got ahead of God because he was full of Moses. What did God do to remedy this? God sent him to the back side of the desert to tend sheep for forty years, becoming the meekest man on earth. Meekness is a fruit of the Spirit. Now he is full of God, and not full of Moses.

Jacob’s name means deceiver, and he lived up to his name, for he deceived his brother Esau, and his uncle Laban. Surly he was full of himself. But there came a time in his life when all of his selfishness caught up with him, and being in distress he met the angle of God. And Jacob was left alone and wrestled with a man until the breaking of day. Jacob told this man that he was not going to let him go until he blessed him, or until the angle would change him. Jacob’s name was changed to Israel. We know that when God changes our name, he has changed our character. Jacob is no longer full of Jacob, he is now full of God. Are you filled with the Spirit of God?

There was a man by the name of Saul who testified that: “ I truly thought with myself, that I would do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. Which thing I also did in Jerusalem; many of the saints did I shut up in prison, and when they were put to death I gave my voice against them. And I punished them often in every synagogue, forced them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even to strange cities.” But while he was on his way to Damascus for this same purpose, Saul met Jesus, and was filled with the Holy Ghost, This delivered him from being full of self. Only until we are filled with the Spirit can we be delivered from being full of self. We know that God changed Saul’s name to Paul. There is a man mention in the book of Acts name Elymas, the sorcerer, we are told that he was full of all subtility, deceit, and all mischief, a child of the devil, a enemy of all righteousness, who cease not to pervert the right was of the Lord. There is a little Elymas in every person that is filled with themselves. My prayer is that every person that reads this word be filled with the Spirit of God and be delivered from being full of self, in Jesus’ name.
