Nicholas looked down the aisle of hammers to see if anyone was watching. He had lost his job recently and the unemployment benefits he had been getting did not cover all of his bills. He looked around again and then fixed his eyes on the most beautiful new hammer he had ever seen. It had a shiny black handle and the steel glinted in his eye.
' You could use this hammer, just take it' the loud voice inside his head said as he kept staring at that hammer.
' Stealing is wrong' said a small quiet voice that seemed to be in the background of his brain.
' Nobody will notice it, just take it' said the loud voice again as he kept staring at it. He put his hand around that black handle when he realized somebody was standing behind him.
" What are you doing Nicholas?".
" Admiring this hammer that I cannot afford" he replied as he he held it up to show his friend.
" Stealing is wrong Nicholas".
" How did you know I was just tempted?".
" Temptation is just a choice either to do things my way or that snake in the grass".
