I've never been in commercial business, but I have been in Christian business for my Lord since I was saved at the age of 12. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma and serving in the Army, I was teaching and coaching when God called me into the Pastoral Ministry.
We have done this since 1954 and our business partner, the Lord, has never failed us!
So I ask you, "Who is your business partner?"
No matter what business you may be in, you should have the Lord as your partner...
with Him having full control.
May I help you to know Him better?
1) God is Love -
Unconditional love for our highest good.
We all know John 3:16, but Jer. 31:3 says, "God loves us with an everlasting love."
2) God is Truth -
God keeps His promises to both nations and individuals in perfect agreement with Himself.
He can not lie!
"I am The Way (we ought to go)....
The Truth (we must believe)....
The Life (we ought to live)".
3) God is Sovereign as Supreme Ruler of all.
He rules in complete harmony with Truth and Love.
He gives each person 'free will' to accept or to reject.
4) God is Holy and demands a measure of Holiness from us.
We are saved and sanctified to serve Him in His business.
5) God is Just -
Savior now and Judge then.
Acts 17: 31: "God has appointed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness by That Man Whom He hath ordained; whereof He hath given assurance unto all that He has raised Him from the dead."
6) God is Omnipresent - ever present.
Psalms 139, Matthew 28:20 and Hebrews 13:5.
7) God is Omniscient - all knowing.
If I had only one Scripture for my life, I would choose Phil.3:10:
"That I may know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made comformable unto His death."
8) God is Omnipotent - all powerful.
Matthew 28:18-20: "All power is given unto me in Heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore and be a part of my business."
9) God is Infinite -
He is without limits Himself, but He gives us 'free will'.
We limit God when we limit ourselves and don't do all that He wants us to 'do and be'.
10) God is Unchangeable -
Always true to Himself and it is not in His character to change.
11) God is Faithful -
When La Moyne and I first met, she had a little holder with Scripture cards in it and would study/memorize those cards as she rode the bus to and from school each day.
I Cor. 10:13 was the Scripture she was memorizing at that time.
I Corinthians 10:13:
"God is faithful Who will not allow you to be tempted above that which you are able...
but will with the temptation, make a way to escape that you may be able to bear it."
(Also see Ephesians 3:20-21)
Thus we see that God in Christ and through the work of the Holy Spirit is:
~ A great find
~ A great friend
~ A great fellowship
~ A great future and Eternity
So the question is, "Do you know your business partner?"
1) He is always dependable!
2) He never has declared 'bankruptcy'.
3) He always keeps His contract (called 'Covenant' in the Bible) with you.
He DOES expect us to read and know this contract.
4) He keeps His end of the deal and expects 'trust' in return.
5) He wants responsibility and accountability!
Whatever our business partner is up to, you can be sure:
~ That it is for your good and for His Glory.
~ That He is 'sifting you' for future service. (Building character)
~ That He is teaching you that promises are not always fulfilled in OUR time.
~ That He is in the process of demonstrating His faithfulness.
His Will....His Contract....and His Way is for everyone....and always best.
When our gr'son James Wiginton graduated from High School last month, my brother Edsel and his wife Peggy, sent James a card...I'd like to share part of it:
"May you walk with pride today...
With hope tomorrow...
and with faith always"
This card reminded me of I Corinthians 13 (and one of my earlier outlines):
'Faith is how you know where you're going...
Hope is what keeps you going...
Love is how you get there."
With God as your business partner, He will give you all three - Faith, Hope and Love.
Go with Him and He will NOT fail you. The end is worth everything it takes to get there!
I noticed in my Bible Concordance that the word 'work' is used over 100 times.
John 14:11-12: "Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me or else believe for the very works' sake, verily verily I say unto you, 'He that believes on me the works that I do shall he do also and greater works than these shall he do...
because I go unto my Father'.
"To The Work"
Words: Fanny Crosby (1869)
Music: W. Howard Doane (1871)
'To the work! To the work! We are servants of God;
Let us follow the path that our Master has trod;
With the balm of His counsel our strength to renew,
Let us do with our might what our hands find to do.
Toiling on, toiling on,
Toiling on, toiling on,
Let us hope and trust,
Let us watch and pray,
And labor till the Master comes.
To the work! To the work! Let the hungry be fed;
To the fountain of life let the weary be led;
In the cross and its banner our glory shall be,
While we herald the tidings, “Salvation is free!”
To the work! To the work! There is labor for all;
For the kingdom of darkness and error shall fall;
And the love of our Father exalted shall be,
In the loud swelling chorus, “Salvation is free!”
To the work! To the work! In the strength of the Lord,
And a robe and a crown shall our labor reward,
When the home of the faithful our dwelling shall be,
And we shout with the ransomed, “Salvation is free!”
