We fed on crumbs in our homely shack.
Quenched our thirst with filthy water.
Mama worked as a maid,
While Papa was always at the Station.
And life was hard…….very hard.
The six of us (children) stared at each other.
We have never lived a different life.
Innocent we were until we were brought forth.
How we wished things were normal.
But life was hard…….very hard.
Neighbors avoided us like plague.
Pests and insects were our housemates.
Suffered frequently from rashes and diarrhea.
And kids flew at our sight.
And life was hard…….very hard.
One day, sweet mama was late from work,
And Papa? Drunk as usual.
Lily, the youngest had caught the flu.
There was no drug in the cabinet.
No firewood to boil the herbs.
Help came from nowhere and nobody.
We pulled off our clothes,
And covered little Lily to keep her warm.
She wouldn’t stop shivering,
And fear gripped everyone.
Before drunk Papa wobbled in,
Lily had died!
Sweet Mama walked upon the body of her child.
Tears flowed like a river.
Sadness enveloped the air.
Sorrow reigned in our hearts.
We struggled on till Papa died.
He was hit by a van.
And for a while,
Life stopped rotating,
And Mama gradually became a sore sight.
No! We are not alone in this.
So many other families involved.
Other children suffering likewise.
No shelter, no food, no clothing.
And so with one voice,
We cry for help!
Mercy on our people.
Favor on our land.
We are starving and dying.
Pray for us.
Help Africa!
Save us.
Extend an arm of love.
Pray for our souls.
Bless us.
And God will bless you too!
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
