Into the shelter and refuge
of this quiet place
I come, Lord . . .
knowing that in the Hidden Life
there are lessons to be learned…
knowing that I must be
as willing to be set aside for a time
as I am to be used . . .
I come seeking
the training,
the leadership,
and the directing
of my growth in You . . .
realizing that the testing
of these moments
is a part of Your Plan for me. . .
realizing that as I walk through
this Testing Time,
I shall be made more usable . . .
You know where I am, Lord.
You know where I am going.
Though I sit by
this dried-up brook,
like Elijah at Cherith,
I know that although Your Direction
brings changes in my ways of living,
Your Direction also includes Your Provisions.
I praise You
for Your Faithfulness in Providing
not always what I want,
but Everything I Need!
Make this Testing Time
a Training Ground for me, Lord,
that I might learn
to trust You more completely,
one day at a time…
that I might learn to live today, today. . .
Teach me that,
in Your Leading,
only one step of The Way
is given at a time . . .
that Your next step
never comes
until I have taken the first step. . .
