I work for a major rail line in the western United States. As of May 1, we had one fatality on the system. By June 1 that number went up to seven. And now with one week to go in the year of 2008, that number has climbed to eight.
I've been a railroader for most of my life, having spent the last eight years with the Union Pacific Railroad. And in these eight years, I had never seen such a lost of life in an industry that fancy itself on safety. That’s not saying anything bad about the company or the men that were lost; but it serve to remind the rest of us that there is a chance that even though we work in an attitude of safety, there’s still a chance that - "may go to work and never come home".
But still, I am more aware of my surroundings while I'm at work and when I work at home and it’s with this consciousness that I so dedicate to brothers unknown.
And this is for you my brothers, whom I never have met, but will one day - may you all rest in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father.
Is it improper to cry…
For men unknown?
Who went to work
And never came home -
For fathers unknown
Whose children will wonder
Why Dad is postpone?-
For husbands unknown
While their wives search for answers
To life on their own-
For sons unknown
Who rode on steel ribbons
While the Dads sit alone
Is it improper to cry?
For brothers unknown
Who went to work
And never came home?
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
