18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

Like a fine object created by an artist, only the creator really understands the created. Likewise, it has been said that the created cannot fully understand the creator. It is impossible. In our stupid, morbid self-obsesssion, we scream out, “Where is God?” All the time knowing in our hearts, He is already here.
Why do we not reach out and accept Him? He is there for the taking…but for our pride? Our lack of gratefulness in His presence?
When we have suppressed the truth of your holiness, we now give you the glory that is yours alone. When we have been blind to your presence, we now recognize that apart from you we are nothing. When we have strived to complete on our own what you have already done, we now ask your forgiveness and accept your mercy and your great presence in our lives. We are yours. We throw away the idols that separate us. We kneel at your feet as the created should. We recognize you and praise you. We seek your hand and accept it now, while it is here for the taking, like it has always been.
