My verse for life is Isaiah 40:31- For those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up on wings as eagles.
An eagle soars on the updraft of wind and can glide on those air currents for miles. They wait to catch a wave so to speak and ride that wave through the sky. That is like the leading of the Lord; it is a strong UP current that takes you soaring above your problems and gives you a much higher perspective of things. There is calmness about it a soaring of your spirits, you are uplifted. Your situation may not change but you are energized internally to weather the storms you are faced with.
From this lofty position riding on the waves of the spirit of God you are able to look further into the future and see more of your surroundings. You are able to see things you may not have been able to see before while wallowing in self pity or anything else that kept you grounded. If you are actively seeking the Lord while waiting upon him He will send along a spiritual wind current to lift you up.
Choosing the Right Path
You will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way. Follow it, whether it turns to the right or to the left.” Isaiah 30:21 (GW)
So the leading of the Lord comes as a strong urging to go in a particular direction. You may not know where the road leads but you just know you are supposed to take that road. As you travel along that road you are to be watching for the signs of God's leading and direction. He will place blessings along the way as you journey.
I guess the best way to describe it is like going on a treasure hunt. You have a basic idea where to go but you are not really sure what you are looking for but you will know once you find it. So it is when you journey with God. He sets you on a pathway and gives you clues and guidance along the way and as you go you find blessings in places you never would have thought to look on your own.
Catching a Blessing From the Lord
Jesus asked them, “Friends, haven't you caught any fish?” They answered him, “No, we haven't.” He told them, “Throw the net out on the right side of the boat, and you'll catch some.” So they threw the net out and were unable to pull it in because so many fish were in it. John 21:5-6 (GW)
Jesus asked the disciples one day if they had caught any fish and they said no. Well he told them to cast the net on the opposite side of the boat and they would catch some. He did not tell them they were in the wrong place he simply told them to try things a little differently. Try it from a different angel. Look at things in a different way. Cast the net in an area of the sea you had not tried before.
Sometimes we need to change our way of thinking about things in order for God to reveal to you his blessings. Sometimes we need to change direction so that God can bestow on us true riches. When we come up empty and turn to Him for help that is when He can direct our steps and fulfill our needs.
The blessings of God are not small in any measure for the disciples nets were filled to overflowing. The joy that comes when God blesses you is more than you can contain. It makes you want to shout a song of praise as well we should.
I have been walking with God long enough to know that He will always show up and take care of His own. All we need do is trust him and believe he rewards those who diligently seek Him. I know many people have been blessed by God unaware that God was behind the blessing because they were not seeking Him. But because God's blessings are too big to contain they overflow to those around you.
It is like a rain shower. Rain does not just fall on one patch of ground but it falls on all the ground around a particular area. So do the showers of God's blessings fall on those who are around when the blessings are being poured out.
Praising God Brings About a Greater Blessing
Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee on his way to Jerusalem. As he went into a village, ten men with a skin disease met him. They stood at a distance and shouted, “Jesus, Teacher, have mercy on us!” When he saw them, he told them, “Show yourselves to the priests.” As they went, they were made clean. When one of them saw that he was healed, he turned back and praised God in a loud voice. He quickly bowed at Jesus' feet and thanked him. (The man was a Samaritan.) Jesus asked, “Weren't ten men made clean? Where are the other nine? Only this foreigner came back to praise God.” Jesus told the man, “Get up, and go home! Your faith has made you well.” Luke 17:11-19 (GW)
We can look at the parable of the ten lepers. All were cleansed but only one came back to thank God and give him praise for it and he went away totally clean the others just got a touch but were not totally cleansed. In other words they where not cleansed to the core. Their hearts were not sweetened toward the things of God. They took the blessing and ran. They did not return to God to offer up an offering of praise and thanksgiving.
You see folks; God does require that we offer up an offering of praise for all the mighty works that he has done. It does not do God any good but it surely does our souls well. For when we return to God the praise He deserves He returns to us again more blessings then we can hold. It is that joy to overflowing that we read about in the bible, the abundant life we so long for, that inner peace that passes all understanding. When God blesses you and you thank him for it you are opening yourself up for greater things. You shall indeed soar on wings as eagles.
But those who are waiting for the Lord will have new strength; they will get wings like eagles: running, they will not be tired, and walking, they will have no weariness. Isaiah 40:31 (BBE)
