On this day of celebration do we even stop to say
“Thank you” to those who fought our freedom road to pave?
We have picnics and parades, and pyrotechnical displays,
But did we pause just once today to thank our God and pray?
The freedoms we hold dear today should not be overlooked
If overlooked today, I fear, tomorrow shall be stricken from the book.
Free from want, and free from fear, it’s what we all desire
Free to speak and free to worship, we all need to aspire.
On this day of celebration, let’s stop for just a pause
To thank our God of love and all our great-great-great grandpas
For giving us our freedoms at great perils to their lives.
Resolve for just this single day to honor their utmost sacrifice.
