“And as they ate it (the fruit), suddenly they became aware of their nakedness, and were embarrassed” (Genesis 3:7).
Prior to their eyes revealing their sin, Adam and Eve were approached by satan disguised as a serpent. He was right in that their eyes would be opened but they became opened to darkness instead of light once they tasted fruit from the tree of good and evil. God had declared that they not eat this fruit; and they knew it but acted accordingly to their desires.
Man hasn’t changed because we will look directly at sin with our eyes and declare to ourselves that it is okay to become involved with it. As God told the first couple that they would be doomed to die spiritually if they ate from that particular fruit, people today are dying in their sin because they still disobey God and stray towards activities that separate them from Him.
Why did Adam and Eve hide from God once their eyes were opened? They were embarrassed with their new bodies, now un-glorified and set apart for sin. satan hated the relationship God had with His children (and he still does) and wanted this separation to be eternal.
God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit had other plans by sending Jesus to this earth to transact business for His children and redeem us from this sin curse caused by disobedience. The death life that satan put on mankind was erased the moment Jesus died for sickness and sin on the cross. Self-awareness of mankind turned and looked at the sacrifice on the cross so His glory would once again be present on humanity.
PRAYER
Father, thank you for your son’s death and resurrection to make us free from sin and self-awareness. You gave us sight for Christ awareness and wiped the slate clean. Amen.
