I found my identity in You, Lord.
And with the privilege of that identity
there is responsibility that says:
Don’t run. Tough it out. God is with you.
Don’t let your lifestyle depend upon
the crest of the wave.
Help me to be your person, Lord.
Help me to do what You Will commands.
Place within my being a calmness of spirit –
a contentment even when things don’t go my way.
Fill me with the gentleness of Your Spirit
and with self-control.
Help me to pursue Your Way with diligence
rather than to give into the moment’s mood.
Saturate me with humility
that my life may not seek to display its merits.
Let me so live that Your Love and Your Grace
may overflow into the lives of those who are
living in the wings of my life . . .
waiting . . .
and watching for what I say I believe
to be demonstrated in the life that I live.
