“And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it” (Genesis 37:24) The Living Bible
This Biblical story relates how Joseph’s brothers had envy and hatred toward their brother and cast him into a pit. The consensus was to slay him but one of his brothers talked them out of it. Joseph was a righteous man who was just trying to follow God’s plan for his life. He simply told a dream. His brothers did not receive him or the dream.
We may feel that we are in a pit with no way out. If the vultures have gathered above your head, there is still hope! In Joseph’s case, it was no accident that a group of merchants came by. Part of God’s plan transpired that very moment when Joseph was sold into his destiny. God moved him away from his enemies (in this case his family) so that he could prosper him (God desires to prosper every person).
Through the many hardships: being separated from his family by their hands; accused of making an advance on his boss’s wife; and thrown into jail – Joseph was always blessed wherever he went and people knew it. The blessing of God was trying to overtake him and eventually it did.
Your pathway may look pretty dim; however, if you are living a life close to God, He will bring you through the many discouragements that go with receiving blessings from God.
God’s plan all along was to prosper Joseph so that he could be second in command under Pharaoh, save his family and other people from famine, and for all his relationships to be restored. Joseph was prosperous beyond measure and God met him at every challenge.
If you have made Jesus the Lord of your life and pursue Him with all your heart, the end result is that He will make you prosperous whether you go North, South, East or West. Don’t look at your current circumstances but realize whom you serve and that He always wants to bring His best into your life. His best for us is way beyond what we can imagine.
PRAYER
Father, help us to be patient in the struggles we face for they make us stronger and enable us to live in freedom and grow closer to You, our source of divine strength and salvation. Amen.
