“Run from anything that gives you evil thoughts but stay close to anything that makes you want to do right. Have faith and love, and enjoy the companionship of those who love the Lord and have pure hearts” (2 Timothy 3:22)
Prior to this verse there is information about dishes made of silver and gold and how the expensive dishes are used for guests and the cheap ones are to put garbage in. If you want to be the expensive vessel used by God, you will need to make certain choices.
God will notice those who set themselves apart from the world and are dedicated to Him. Because God’s tasks are always honorable, we cannot expect to be used by Him in a great way if we have settled for anything less than His way of doing things.
God’s best will require diligence, discipline, faith, perseverance, being able to hear His voice, and much more. God will train us up so completely and perfectly that people’s lives will be changed. The training takes time and we don’t know the future rewards we will reap by being different from others.
People notice when a person’s life doesn’t seem like the rest of the world and they will ask what’s the reason.
PRAYER
Father, help us want to live so close to your heart that if we stray even a tiny bit we will know to make an abrupt change to align ourselves with your character. Give us patience to go from basic training to being a seasoned Christian who has something to give to others. Amen.
