Deserving of the sentences demanded for their crimes;
Two thieves were crucified at Calvary.
The Man upon the Middle Cross was guilty of NO wrong;
His ONLY 'crime'was loving you and me.
One thief rebuked the Master, saying, "Save yourself, and us!"
The other said, "My Lord, remember me."
Then Jesus turned toward the one who knew that He was God,
And said, "My child, in Paradise WE'LL be".
Yes, the Maste made a promise to the thief upon the cross,
And as their lifeblood slowly ebbed away;
The words the Master spoke to one He'd come to Earth to save;
"You will be in Paradise, with me TODAY."
Across the years since Calvary, the Master's voice still speaks;
NOT to a dying felon by His side;
But to the countless souls who've lived, and heard His tender words,
"My child, to you, SALVATION is applied."
STILL, the Master makes that promise, to the ones He came to save.
"I am with you, I will NEVER go away;
Just believe the words I've spoken...realize that I am God;
YOU can be in Paradise, with Me someday."
