Beyond My Childish Ways

When I was a child,
My thoughts had been wild;
The same as I would speak,
With all that I would seek.

I did not understand,
Exactly what God planned;
That would be for my soul,
As my ultimate goal.

When I became a man,
Then I realized a plan;
That the Lord would decree,
And where it would take me.

So I gave up the ways,
Of my childish days;
And could see in my face,
Illuminate with His grace.

Now in my twilight years.
As a certain time nears;
My love helps me to cope,
As my faith gives me hope.

I liked reading your poem! But, speaking as a fellow Boomer, I don't find life to be so neatly wrapped up in our package of life; some days, I'm back to being a little kid again....hoping to spot the fire flies. God Bless!
