Just an old cardboard box he placed in her lap,
His most beloved of things for her birthday.
MeMe, these are for you, I couldn't find any wrap;
They're old, but Dad said you'd love them anyway.
My two brown doggies don't need much tending;
As my tiger; sorry, he's only got one ear.
I love my teddy, MeMe, but he needs the most mending,
And I told him I would always be near.
Can you fix his nose, his back's broken, too.
I hugged him as soft as I could.
He's my favorite, I'm giving my best to you.
He promised me he's always be good.
You can have my old watch; it don't work anymore,
Dad bought me a new one, you see.
I 'member I had it since I was four.
That is a long time to me.
I won't have much time now; I have "growed-up",
Teddy can't go to school with me.
Can you keep him along with my two little pups,
And love them the way you love me.
So precious, so loved, this five year old boy,
Had given his grandma far more than,
The tattered old box of worn-out toys,
He'd given her his heart; her "growed-up" little man.
