EVENTIDE
Mother you’ve aged in grace so well
Your eyes still twinkling blue
Your love, for all your children shows
In that they still praise you.
The years have passed so swiftly
Brown hair turned into gray
And now snow white to cap the head.
That to, her God did pray.
Frail and weak in body
But strength still in the soul
A specialness in your presence
That makes the day seem whole.
All the weddings and gatherings
Your hand gave testimony too
A servants heart in attending
To the needs, that came to you.
No complaining did my earlobes hear
But a rejoicing heart at work
No task too heavy to undertake
Nor, duties ever shirk.
And when eventide hastens
Such loss that’s like none other
When into the arms of her Savior
Shall be that precious one, my Mother.
