I tried many different kinds of things to find
Someone with a heart that was pure and kind
I searched high and low for a heart of gold
I thought I'd found one but it was stone cold
Where O where could the one I long for be
Maybe he is somewhere across the great sea
I will follow the rainbow's highway to its' end
Maybe that heart of gold will be around the bend
I've met some special folks along my way
With many of them I would like to stay
But the one with the heart of gold alluded my sight
Although I have searched for him with all my might
Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places
So little time, so many people so many faces
To find one with a heart of gold is very rare
I finally found one whose story I will share
Jesus is his name and he was born in a stable
He yearns for you to come and dine at his table
His heart is large, pure, kind and true
Jesus died on the cross for me and you
Since he became my savior and friend
My search for perfect love has an end
His heart of gold is an inspiration to me
His loving face one day I will see
