You have spent your lifetime living, just as we will do
The part that makes it worth it, is different with you.
I’ve tried for years to win your love, but now the truth I see
Your acceptance and love was never offered free to me.
Thank God I have a Savior that showed me His pure love
The one that took my eyes off earth and set them on above
For those things He offers freely, the things that matter most
The hope in Him, the trust in love and the Holy Ghost
For His love never goes away or is dependent on my acts
It’s unconditional; ever present and I know these are facts
And had I not His forgiving love, I would not be alive
Because instead of hurting me, He gave his life and died
And I can now live free from sin and your ridicule
I’m so glad He changed my heart, may I never be so cruel
So with this poem I say good-bye to something never there
And pray His love will soften scars and keep you in His care.
