And Joshua
the son of Nun
sent two men secretly
from Shittim as spies,
saying;
Go,
view the land,
especially
Jericho.
[Joshua 2:1]
***********************
"Lord, can I leave
JERICHO, NOW?"
"What do you mean, child."
"JERICHO!
I know You've brought me
here, for SOME reason!"
[NOD.]
"I don't like all these walls,
Lord. And, there's way too
much scary stuff. And,
I was never good at blowing
horns, anyway. In fact,
the only thing I've ever
blown was a little kids' BALLOON."
[LOVING NOD.]
"Do you trust Me, child?"
"Eh......sure, Lord.
(Squeamish frown.)
Yeah!
Sure!
(Grimmace.)
Hey, sure thing, LORD!
Uh......can I leave JERICHO, now?"
[SMILE!]
"Trust Me, child."
"But, WHY, Lord?"
"Why what."
"Why did Ya BRING me,
here, in the FIRST place?
(Uncomfortable frown.)
You KNOW I'm not the
ADVENTUROUS type!
And, a CONQUERER?
PLEASE!
The only thing I've
ever conquered was an
ice cream SUNDAE!"
[GENTLE SMILE.]
[PATIENT NOD.]
"Yes, My child.
I know."
"Yeah; I would've been
one of those Israelites
who would'a said:
'Hey, MOSES!
Are ya SURE you
know where ya GOIN'?
Can't we just go back
to EGYPT, now?
PLEASE?'
Somthin' like that, Lord."
[CHUCKLE.]
[ALL KNOWING NOD.]
"Yes, My child.
Just....."
"Hey, LORD?
You ain't gonna tell me
that stuff about You bein'
the POTTER, and
ME bein' the CLAY,
are YA?"
[LAUGH!]
"No, My child!"
"Yeah.....WHAT then?"
[SMILE.]
"I was just going to
tell you....."
"What?
WHAT?"
[PATIENT LOOK OF A LOVING
FATHER.]
"To keep walking,
My child...
And blowing your horn:
until I say:
[PAUSE.]
shout."
*************************
So the people
shouted,
and the
trumpets
were blown.
As soon
as the people
heard
the sound
of the trumpet,
the people
raised a great shout,
and the wall
fell down
flat.
