My daughters' school was on spring break last week, and normally I would try to take a couple of days off to hang with them, however that was not in the plan this year due to my pressing schedule this season.
Not wanting them to just lounge around, giving them a couple of days apart, I requested that they prepare and give their first home church, which incudes selecting the opening music, opening prayer, selecting the bible reading, giving a small sermon, closing prayer, and then closing music.
To my surprise, they prepared diligently and cheerfully. Also to my surprise, they didn't just take turns reading John 3:16 or a Psalms, one selected a portion of Romans 8 and the other a passage from Revelation.
This nearly brought tears from my eyes to see my kids speak of the practical application for our lives in regards to the scriptures they just read.
To reward them, I not only nearly doubled their allowance for that week, but I also spent the next couple of nights giving them their first driving lessons, which brought them much joy to ride up and down our local streets, to include back and forth from my place to their mother's home.
I remember the days when they were first learning to tie their own shoes and button their own shirts. So to now see them give their first sermon and behind the wheel of a vehicle, made this spring break more memorable and precious to me than any other. Praise the Lord.
