The Art of Being

Sitting still for any period of time is very difficult for me. I've always got to be doing something, working on some project, at least listening to music. Many can tell you that I'm always running, always off, always moving.
But... is being completely busy what God wants us to be doing? Does He want us continually going from one thing to the next without even stopping to take a breath?
Psalm 46:10 says, "'Be still, and know that I am God.'" It never hurts to stop and recognize God for who He really is: God Almighty, the Creator, the Lover of our souls, the One who died for us.
My family and I went camping recently. I walked out into the woods behind our campsite and found a stream running alongside a dirt path. I crawled up onto a log stretched out over the water and just sat there, thinking about how awesome it was that God had created all these things surrounding me.
Next time you feel you've been running non-stop, sit down. Look around you. Think about how awesome and great our God really is. He's definitely got everything - even our super busy, crazy-at-times lives - under control.

Shaun, I completely agree with you. Sitting still happens to be the most difficult thing for me to do, yet God requires us to sit still at times to totally devote our attention to Him.
