Why Wait When We Can Pray?
Someone once said, “I can not handle my problems anymore so I handed them all to God!”
Funny how we usually wait till we hit the rock bottom, until we are in the pit of depression, till we reach the end of the rope, before we remember there is God who is much bigger than our problems and who is more powerful than anyone of us, no matter how capable or wiser we think we are.
I remember one day, out of desperation, I cried to God, “Lord, I don’t know what to do anymore. Please help me!” That was a lesson in humility. As I released my pride to God, and submitted under His guidance and sovereignty, I felt a heavy load being released from my shoulders. Pride is when we think we are able to solve problems on our own, when we believe we can change someone, when we trust others and ourselves more than God Almighty.
Those times when I realized I was not “Gloria, The Almighty” but “Gloria a child and servant of God” saved by grace, then I allowed God to do His work. Yes, at times it takes trials- big mountains and valleys to climb , heavy storms and strong gush of winds before we realize that we are nothing without God.
Are you in a state of hopelessness right now? Are you sick of being sick? Are you a victim of injustice, malicious gossips, persecutions, physical and emotional distress, financial difficulties, stress in the job, and breakdown in relationship? You are not alone.
Somewhere in this world, there are people who are worse than the situation we’re in. But amazingly, they are happier than we are. Why? Because they are completely trusting God, fully dependent on what He can do. They don’t wait in desperation before they pray.
What are you waiting for when we can pray?
Our Most Precious Heavenly Father, You know our hearts, our deepest longings and our desperate need for help. Thank You for reminding us that You are Who You say You are, Trustworthy, Sovereign, Powerful God. Your ways are not our ways, Your thoughts are not our thoughts. Help us to listen to Your voice, to lean on Your presence and depend on You fully in everything. Release our pride, our dependence on things and people who can not save us. Thank You for sending us Your son Jesus Christ who saved us from our iniquities, who already washed our sins by His blood at the cross. May we continue to walk through the guidance of The Holy Spirit in us- our Best Counselor. In Jesus precious Name, Amen.
Key Verse for today: “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 4:6-7
