Mother left.
The crying began.
So, out to her,
I reached my hand.
Her body shook.
What fear was hers!
But I held her,
and dried all her tears.
The sobs grew less.
The tears they stopped.
And on my arm
her head she dropped.
Quiet, at last!
Oh, what a joy!
Shortly thereafter,
she played with her new toy.
