Kindness is the fifth fruit of the Spirit. The general meaning of Kindness is, ďthe quality of being warmhearted and considerate and humane and sympathetic.Ē
Bible declares that our Heavenly Father is Kind and His loving-Kindness is better then life. Kindness of God towards the entire human race is revealed in coming of Christ Jesus, the Son of God, who gave himself for us, to rescue us from all wickedness and to make us a pure people who belong to God alone and are eager to do good.
Our God is God of kindness and his kindness never fails, they are new every morning and so we are not consumed. It was Godís kindness and his love for Israelites that delivered them from the oppressive bondage of Pharaoh, King of Egypt. Even though Israelites revolted against God every now and then while in their Exodus; God did not stopped them providing guidance, protection and deliverance because of his loving-kindness and tender mercies. Godís compassion towards his chosen people and his faithfulness towards his Word made Israelites enter into the Promised Land.
The Kindness of God is great because he is ever ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and he does not forsake us. His Kindness is excellent because we find protection under the shadow of his wings. His Kindness is good because he hears our cries and pleas; whenever we call upon his name he answers us and just as a mother comforts her child in her bosom so does God comforts us under his feathered wings. His Kindness is marvelous because he forgives us our sins and bolts out our transgressions, he protects and saves those who put trust in him and saves with his right hand from those who have rose against us.
The fruit of kindness help us to find favor and good repute in the sight of Elohim and man, helps us to bless those who curse us, pray for those who persecute us, and forgive others their wrongdoings against us. It helps us to obey Christís commandment of loving one another, tarry each otherís burden and pray for one another. It helps us to consider others better then us, seek good and overcome evil, helps us to think good for others so that they might be saved, helps us to live in peace with everyone, helps us to be alert, firm in the faith, makes us brave and strong and blesses us to do every work in love, makes us humble towards each other looking out for one anotherís interests, it helps us to get rid of anger, passion, and hateful feelings, insults or obscene talks and lying; makes us persistent in prayers giving thanks to God, gives us wiseness to act properly towards unbelievers making our speech pleasant and interesting, helps us to warn the idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone, makes us joyful and thankful in all circumstances keeping our life in union with Christ Jesus, leads us into a greater understanding of Godís love and the endurance that is given by Christ , helps us to make petitions, prayers, requests and thanksgiving for all people, keeps us away from profane and foolish discussions, helps us to be merciful towards those who have doubt, helps us to endure sufferings and do the work of a preacher of the Good News and perform our whole duty as servant of God.
Just as God has been kind towards us while dealing with us in our shortcomings, failures and sins; so should we become like him while dealing with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and with the unbelievers. The Kindness of God helps us to become more enduring, gentle, humble and compassionate. When we have kindness of God as fruit of the Spirit with us it will help and bless us to look and think just as God does and it will make us more conformed in the image and likeness of his Son Christ Jesus and thereby glorify him by bringing forth the fruit of righteousness that endures in his Holy and Unshakeable Kingdom forever.
For the Lord Almighty desires justice, mercy, and honesty; to walk humbly with him; for He is severe towards those who have fallen, but kind to you- if you continue in his kindness.
Psalms 117:2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endures for ever. Praise ye the LORD.
