Psalm 105:1 (NLT)
Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim His greatness. Let the whole world know what He has done.
When our eyes open to a new day, before our feet touch the floor, we should already be giving thanks to God for the blessing of a new day of life. Each day is a gift. Life itself is blessing enough to be filled with joy and thanksgiving, another day to draw closer to God, another day to work for the Lord, to lift His name in praise and adoration.
Now that is the way it should be, but often times, we wake up and complain about something before we sit down to breakfast. We gripe about not getting enough sleep, we can't find anything appealing to wear, the weather doesn't suit our fancy. It is grumble, grumble, whine, and complain. Sickening! No "thank you, God" for a new day, for breath in my lungs, for my health, home, job, family, or salvation.
At some point in the day, we realize we haven't prayed or praised our gracious God above for all the many blessings that He continues to rain down upon us day after day. We may squeeze in quick prayer and ask God to help, bless, deliver, and heal, maybe throw in a quick general thank you and be off on our merry way. We are no better than spoiled brats sometimes. We are ungrateful and unappreciative. God gives and gives and we just take one blessing after another, one gift after another. Goodness gracious, after all God does for us, we should be praising Him every second of the day. He deserves continual praise, not continual complaining and ingratitude.
We must turn our attitude of being unthankful to an attitude of gratitude, simple as that!
