“Early the following morning, just at sunrise, they carried them (embalming spices) out to the tomb. On the way they were discussing how they could ever roll aside the huge stone from the entrance” (Mark 16:2-3)
Mary Magdalene, Salome and Mary the mother of James were dedicated women and not afraid to tackle an obstacle. They already knew that somehow they would get past the very heavy stone to prepare Jesus’ body.
Some people today are inclined to leave the stone over the entrance so Jesus can’t get out. If Jesus stays hidden, then they won’t have to believe that He really lives. I was watching a documentary on the suffering Jesus endured during the crucifixion. None of the scientists ever mentioned that Jesus resurrected from the dead and lives today.
It’s easier for people to see Jesus as a prophet and teacher that lived and died instead of allowing Him entrance into their lives to bring life.
They keep Him locked away in grave clothes.
Father, help our unbelief even when we say we believe. Our actions and words reveal whether we have rolled away the stone and allowed Jesus entrance into our lives. Amen.
