I John 1:9 (NLT)
If you confess your sin, God promises to forgive.
Sin is knowing to do good, but not doing it. Sin is the #1 cause of spiritual death. It infects your temple and keeps you from functioning to your fullest potential.
If you get a physical infection, you take antibiotics to rid the body of unwanted toxins and prevent further growth of these organisms. If left untreated, it could lead to sepsis and eventually death. Sin is the toxin that causes spiritual infection. If left untreated the sin will eventually lead to spiritual sepsis then before you know it, spiritual death will occur. For spiritual infection, the recommended treatment is lots and lots of prayer and asking for forgiveness. Forgiveness of sin is the antidote.
We need to stay in constant fellowship with God. When we are in fellowship with God, we see truths and sins more clearly. Confessing our sins daily and asking for forgiveness cleanses us from impurities and keeps us spiritually healthy. This has to be an ongoing process. Spiritual death doesn't occur overnight. Sin is usually a gradual process of corrosion and deterioration, destroying one area at a time.
Please, make sure you are taking care of your temple and keeping it clean and healthy. Don't let anger, lust, greed, bitterness, jealousy, gossip, hate, envy or other sin to take residence in your temple. Prevention is everything. If signs and symptoms of spiritual infection appear, do not delay, go straight to the Great Physician, our Lord and Savior. He is the only one that can give forgiveness for sin. He is the only one with the cure.
