I am a musician, among other things. I am amazed at what simple music can do to the spirit of a man. It can lift; it can change or even mold a mood. It can speak to the soul or call out to emotions long since forgotten and too easily cast aside by the trivia of everyday life.
I am, as I write this article, listening to a CD entitled, “Deep Waters”. By Leonard Jones-Violin, Bruce Daily-Piano. The engineer for the CD is Dan Potter.
I was given this recording by some friends on our worship team. This is spontaneous instrumental music. From the information on the jacket, I have learned that these two gifted musicians went into separate rooms and the engineer hit the record button. Neither could see the other. They simply played as the spirit led them. Listening to the result is not only uplifting but you can feel the presence of God in the music. I have a picture in my mind of the Lord smiling, blessed by the offering of praise. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who wants to experience the presence of love, peace, passion and praise carried by the simplest of sounds and rhythms.
Psalm 96; “Sing unto the Lord a new song.” This is a new song yet an old one as well.
It brings forth joy and peace, Reverence and awe. After listening to this recording, you may be lulled to sleep or perhaps just put at ease by the spirit that resides within its melody.
Music is a key, a pathway to praise and worship, an expression of love and commitment. Music is a prayer, a gift of glory and honor. King Saul was comforted by David as he sang and played his harp. The anointed music of the Lord has power.
This CD has power. I recommend it highly.
