All the fruits of the Spirit reveal the nature of our God Almighty. Patience is fourth fruit of the Spirit. Patience in general term means, “ the quality of bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper, irritation, or the like.”
Patience is the fruit of the Spirit through which Lord God Almighty helps us to learn, develop, grow and mature in Christ’s discipleship, so that the fruits of righteousness which glorifies our Father in the heaven can be produced by Church of Christ.
Bible declares that Our Lord is the Lord of patience and his patience along with consolation grants us to be like-minded towards one another according to Christ Jesus. For Christ is an example for us of being patient for He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he was brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her Shearer’s is dumb, so he opened not his mouth- Christ patiently endured the painful sufferings and agonizing death on the cross of Calvary for He knew God’s plan of Salvation.
Patience helps us to gain experience during trials, temptations and testing times of our faith. It helps us to learn on how to rely more upon God’s power and wisdom and wait upon the Lord- for if we suffer according to will of God it brings God’s approval and his approval creates hope which does not disappoint us, for God has poured out his love into our hearts by means of the Holy Spirit, who is God’s gift to us.
Patience helps us to us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, through the hearing and keeping of the word of God which helps us to run the race that is set before us. Patience keeps us from becoming weary and helps us to keep on doing well that promises glory, honor, immortality and eternal life with Christ Jesus. Patience helps believers to wait upon the Lord for revealing God’s favor, justice and righteousness; it assures believers for the second coming of Christ Jesus; helps to inherit the promises of God Almighty; strengthens Saints in accompanying Godliness, Faith, Temperance, Long-Suffering and Joyfulness.
It’s the patience of the God that He is still waiting upon the people to turn from their sins for his will is that none should perish but come to repentance and have eternal life. It’s the patience of God that relents him from destroying the world, for He is slow to anger and abounding in love, compassion and mercy.
Just as a mother patiently endures pains and sufferings before the time of joy of giving birth to her child, so should we as the believers of Christ Jesus endure pains, sufferings, trials, temptations, testing times of our faith, and patiently await for God to deliver us for, “Just a little while longer, and he who is coming will come; and he will not delay. He has rewards with him and will give to each one according to what he has done. Christ’s appearing will be brought about at the right time by God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He alone is immortal; he lives in the light that no one can approach. No one has ever seen him; no one can ever see him. To him be honour and eternal dominion! Amen.”
Remember saints what the bible says about patience: Ecclesiastes 7:8 Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. Revelation 2:2-3 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted”
It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
