Megan
 The strong one
  Her breath
   Gasping vapors
    Of frost

Stared at the stain
 A starless black blanket
  Tarnished
   By the spill of
    Iceberg white death

Horrified
 Frigid ocean waters
  Swallowing
    A gulp at a time
    Titanic dreams of

Megan
 The strong one
  Her prayers
   Floating lifeboats
    In still life

Stared at the stain
 Sailing away
  Absorbed
   By the starless
    Black blanket

Horrified
 Cries silenced
  Souls froze
   By the absence
    Of more lifeboats

So cleverly done! I love it!

Great form! Her prayers floating lifeboats--you stayed true to the analogy throughout. Even your lines floated over. Perfect! You must tell me how you get blank spaces to show up in formating.
Kristen Hester  22 Mar 2008
This is creative, powerful, and interesting. Well done.

Henry, this was awesome! I liked how you split the lead-in sentence the way you did. Captured the emotion of that fateful day excellently. Just wonderful...

Masterful! And just a few weeks away from that fateful day in April when the mighty Titanic sank... It reads like a song.
Jan Ackerson  21 Mar 2008
Excellent, Henry...I'd never have gone there, given that prompt! I like the way you split up the sentence over your stanzas, too. Great!
