Because I Live
Where was the hope we had once known?
He spoke to us words of life.
Dead He was now, sealed in a tomb;
Grief had cut us, with its hot knife.
Locked behind doors, for fear of the Jews,
He came to us and stood in our midst;
He said to us, "Peace be with you."
Our souls, it seemed, were heaven-kissed.
"Because I live, you'll live likewise;
I am Hope, in living flesh,
I'm here to touch, be seen with your eyes,
For you'll come to Me, to find your rest."
He showed us His hands, showed us His feet,
We failed to believe our eyes.
He then asked for something to eat.
He ate some fish to our surprise.
What we have heard, seen with our eyes,
We then bear witness, saying to you:
Our hands have touched the Word of Life;
Have joy complete, and ever so true.
