In the United States of America, there are so many pleasures, amusements, recreations, fine dining and on and on that we in this country are full. Americans boast of many first discoveries. New gadgets, widgets, or toys are developed everyday. How many times do you hear people in this country complain when they can’t get a clear signal to their cell phones?
Proverbs 27:7 The full soul loathes a honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
The souls of Americans are hungry. They are filling their hungry empty souls with many things that make them feel more powerful and in control. These things are bitter and only will result in a mouth filled with gravel. This may be the most materialistic society that ever occupied a place on this earth. Remember when God allowed 911, it brought this country to its knees. Wall Street was crippled. Commerce and Trade came to an utter stand still. Suddenly those things which were so important to most Americans meant absolutely nothing as loved ones scrambled franticly to locate and comfort one another. The Senators and Representatives gathered together on the steps of the Capital to pray and sing gospel hymn's together. Why can't they get together and pray every week about the important issues they vote into laws. Can America mock God and be blessed?
When God allowed Hurricane Katrina, casinos (making millions of dollars everyday) were destroyed and their daily cash flow stopped instantly. When are we in this country going to learn? We are fighting a war in Iraq right now that is senseless and worthless. What is the reason for continuing this war? Power is the reason. This country is hungry for all the wrong things always. We are spending billions of dollars monthly in a war that will not produce anything profitable for Americans. The end results of this war tragically will produce a broken down economy and debt that may never get paid until 3 or 4 generations, if even then.
Deut 5:9 “For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations.”
It may sound harsh for us to think that God will punish our children for our transgressions, but that is His nature, His character. Sadly we have recently elected people into Political Offices that claim to know and love God. It is very hard to believe these claims when we see the social and foreign policies brought forth and instituted into laws. Why did the United States sit back and watch 1 million people be slaughtered by the devil in 1994 in Rwanda? The President at that time was William Clinton. Now his wife wants us to believe that she will somehow act with true Christ like compassion differently than her husband.
The man in the White House right now openly proclaimed his faith in God during his first campaign. He has done relatively nothing of any Christ like compassion to curtail the sufferings of poor people in this country. During his 8 years in office, racism has seemed to heighten and not diminish. The case here in Jena, Louisiana is an example of that and nooses being sent to African Americans in other parts of America. Our current President openly proclaimed his love for Jesus Christ and has not done anything (in my opinion) to relieve the oppression and suffering of the least of these that Christ speaks of in Matthew 25. He is but one man but he has authority given to him by the people he is supposed to serve.
Men and women sentenced to prison for minor crimes and ending up dead before they finish serving their time. They are given the death penalty for crimes that do not warrant such a punishment. When will a man who says he is a Christian stand for what the Lord Jesus Christ stood for and still stands for today and eternally. What a man does with power is a testament of who the man really and truly is in the sight of Almighty God.
America is satisfied I tell you, but the eyes of the Lord are in every place watching over the good and the evil. Every American heart (including those in Political power and all professing Christians) is open and naked before the Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus Christ is going to render or reward every man according to his works (what he practices and performs repeatedly). There will be not one ill motive or underlying racist deed left unturned. The Lord Jesus knows the truth and every man small and great has nowhere to hide his true intentions. So I ask you Mr. or Ms. American Are you Satisfied or Hungry?
Matthew 5:6 Blessed, fortunate, happy, and spiritually prosperous (in that state in which the born-again child of God enjoys His favor and salvation) are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God), for they shall be completely satisfied! Are you?
A soul satisfied in intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ lacks nothing and longs for no external stimulus or pleasures.
2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine, test, and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves [not Christ]. Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you--unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected? Are you?
A soul separated from the Lord Jesus Christ (in broken fellowship) will be lured into all types of unclean things looking for satisfaction, pleasure, and even power and will never find it but will go hungry.
Sincerely in Christ,

I don't think we should
decide why God allowed 9/11
(i.e. to punish America
for its materialism, etc.).
There is evil, and terrible
suffering in the world. God
made this world; maybe, He
should've made it BETTER?
Good article, though!
When we get out from under our Covenant with God, the devil will see to it that bad things happen. In defense of the President (whoever he may be in office) we must remember the President is not the only one making decisions we may consider wrong. No one person (on earth) can make everything right. It takes the congress and house of representatives and what about all the judges to make and pass the laws. We, the people, elected these people. Perhaps we need to pray more about this situation. You did express in writing what many others are feeling, tho. Thank you for writing and God Bless You
