“The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not be in want”…. Psalm 23 v 1

Over a year ago I heard the Lord audibly speak to me ‘The Lord is my shepherd I shall not be in want’. There was no mistaking it. It has brought great comfort to me at very low and trying times in my life over the last 18 months.

Today a yet deeper meaning to this psalm was revealed today from the Lord .One that I would like to share.

Who is your Shepherd? Who do you follow?

Many years ago in my local church, there was much prayer taking place for a new leader. There was great insistence that it should be a man of God and rightly so. As the weeks progressed it became clear that this was not happening.

This was the scripture the Lord laid on my heart at the time and again this morning.

“But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him; for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart”….. 1 Samuel 16 v 7

Why is this relevant today?

Too many leaders, teachers and Pastors are being elevated to such an extent that Jesus Christ has been demoted to a lesser place.

The sheep only known by Jesus and the Father himself are being scattered to wolves and wounds, deep wounds, are festering and hurting and there is no one to bind them up with salve only Jesus can give.

“But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth, and the wolf catcheth them, and scattered the sheep”….. John 10 v 12

Look not unto the leaders for your salvation or healing but to the True Shepherd, Jesus.

As I turned to Jesus this morning in prayer and John 10 I talked to the Good Shepherd. His healing touch and loving words healed yet more of my deepest wounds that only Jesus can do.
