THE TOMB WAS EMPTY
By freelance writer, Lupie Riley
A New York based researcher, Suzanne Olsson was on a quest. A “seeker of truth,” she wanted to prove that a Rorabal Shrine in Kashmir contained the body of Jesus Christ. Christians throughout the world knew her quest would lead her to an empty tomb. Without the resurrection of Jesus there would be no such thing as Christianity. Our spiritual walk might be a once a year journey to a site that contains the well preserved remains of a human corpse.
What sets the God/man Jesus apart from any other great leader or prophet that ever lived ? The resurrection and his claims and deeds.
He was and is the Creator God :
"Christ himself is the Creator who made everything in heaven and earth "
He has power and authority :
Over the Spirit world....cast out demons
Over disease....healed leprosy, blindness, withered limbs, crippled legs and restored the servants ear.
Over the elements....changed water into wine, multiplied loaves and fishes, calmed the storm, walked on water.
Over death....raised Lazarus, Jairus daughter, son of the widow and brought himself back to life through the resurrection.
He claimed to be Savior and King :
He came to be the one time sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin providing the way back to God.
He is the prayer mediator.
He is coming back as King of Kings.
An artist painted a picture of Christ standing at a doorway knocking. What was unusual about this painting was that there was no door knob on the outside. It could only be opened through the inside. A true revelation of the meaning of 'choice'. God created mankind with the ability to choose right from wrong, white or black, good or evil. Implanted in our subconscious is the unique capability to exercise free will of choice. To be able to accept Jesus Christ claims and believe his works or disregard him as just another prophet or good man. The tomb is empty because he is not dead--he has risen from the grave and is alive for evermore. The end of Suzanne Olssons journey most certainly brought her to the foot of the cross.
The question is what do we do with this man Jesus? The choice we make will determine where we spend eternity. Christians everywhere can trust in his words that " I am coming again". Sooner then we may imagine, are you ready ?
