When I was small I wish upon
a star up in the sky,
and think that if I wished enough,
it would come true, by and by.
Later on, I still made wishes,
oh, I would change the world!
So sure was I that they would come true,
as my life quickly unfurled.
Later still, life beat me down,
no more wishes - for I had no hope,
it was all that I could do
each day to even cope.
Then one day, Jesus came,
and stood right by my side,
He promised to transform my life,
with Him, I need no longer to hide!
Dare I? Could I? Would it be?
That I could wish again?
And knowing that if I followed Jesus,
child-like wonder would be mine again!
So I did, and held it close,
this new desire of my heart,
for one that would be just for me,
and that we'd never be apart.
OH, Jesus heard, and when it was time,
He knew just what to do...
He sent you into my life to capture my heart,
and make the wish come true!
Now every day is full of wishes -
blessings that every day are new,
and every day I find a hundred new ways
to tell you how much I LOVE YOU!!!
Jesus did just as He promised,
He made my life brand new;
and then He gave me much more than I wished,
He gave me love when He gave me you!!!
