Darling child
Where have you gone?
I have searched for you
All along the hedgerows
And through the town
But found you not;
Not a whisper, not a trace,
Not a glimpse of your sweet face,
What has happened to you
Darling child?

Darling child
The night grows darker
The streets so silent
The air so cold now;
Is there someone who can tell me
Where you are
My darling child?

Darling child
My heart is breaking
My mind is numb
My body aching
All I long for
Is to hold you
Once again
My darling child.

Patricia, I am reading this for a second time, enjoying the writing, but wonder if it could benefit from some more question marks, perhaps at the end of each verse? Not sure how that would look on the page. With love, Anne
