"That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecution, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." 2 Corinthians 12:10
Pauls words are very contrary to the way the world thinks and believes. If you watch the media for any amount of time, you will see that there are various remedies for any type of weakness one can imagine, body building tips, diets, medications, etc. The world wants to be strong, and they delight in the strenght of man!
But our God tells us in Psalms that a man is not saved by the size of his army, no physical strength can save us. And the world certainly does not delight in weakness, they despise it and go to all means to correct it!
This all seems very complicated if not impossible. I too rejoice in my weakness, for it was in times of great weakness that I saw the greatness of my God! It was a year ago that I underwent thyroid surgery, and while I was unconscious, God used my surgeon to fix me! I did nothing! I just(after a long time) trusted God to heal me. I wish I would have trusted Him sooner, because then the journey would have been more peaceful and the valley would not have been that deep(I made it deeper by digging the hole further!), but I had nothing to do with my healing. Man cannot heal, save or fix himself.
We are weak. No matter how well off we are physically, and I pray that everyone reading this is strong and in good health, in our humanity, we are weak. We easily fall prey to sin, we break bones, get colds, get into accidents, etc. We all fall, sometimes physically, sometimes spiritually, and sometimes the valley is so deep that we feel we are going to fall apart! But praise God, our "carpenter" He puts us back together! He reclaims what was lost in our lives, in ways we never could. Rejoice, in your weakness, for your weakness is His strength and where we fall short, He makes up for it, and is glorified! Like the childrens song says "little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong"
