Marco's Bad Day
Learning on the job...
In a dusty Bazaar, Marco Polo is engaged in a ancient custom well known in Central Asia...
Abdul: Why should I give you my camel-I love it like my daughter!
Marco: If this camel is like all the other camels I've seen I pity your daughter.
Abdul: spoken with wit young man-but surely you can see what a fine camel it is, and you
are, I hear in great need of transport
Marco: with THAT skinny thing-what is it supposed to carry?
Abdul: come, come it's better then that it can carry twice it's weight
Marco: when it enters paradise perhaps-which looks to be soon
Abdul: Tell you what young man, I'll let you have it for seventy pieces of silver
Marco: Hah! It's barely worth twenty
Abdul: lets make it fifty
Marco brings the camel back to Nicelo and Maffeo in the camp. Nicelo looks at it. He says,"Marco
how much did you say you paid for this?
Niccelo: because this wretched thing is practically lame. Don't fill bad-most men
get taken at times.
Marco: what do we do
Niccelo: Well at least we don't have to worry about dinner tonight...
