Life goes on. Sounds cliché doesn’t it? When your life is turned upside down, there is always somebody who will tell you, things will get better, and life will go on. Of course when you are the person whose world just fell apart, it feels like life may go on for everybody else, and leave you behind.
There you are, standing there in your own realm, where time has pretty much come to a screeching halt, you watch people going on with their daily lives completely oblivious to the horrors in your life. You don’t mean to, but in very back of your mind you are asking God, “Why is this happening?”, and the answer you get in return is “It doesn’t matter; you will know when the time is right.” Great. There you are in pain and the One who can tell you why, won’t. This isn’t because God is a cruel God, it is simply because if we don’t work our way through our experiences with Him, we won’t understand the reason. It is the hind sight that gives us insight.
Experiences aren’t what make us who we are, it is what we do with and take away from them that do. Sometimes we don’t handle situations the way we are supposed to, and the great thing about our God is He is a God of second, third, fourth, and even fifth and sixth chances.
God uses our experiences to be a part of the refining process, the process that He allows us to go through to remove all the impurities from our lives, that we would be more like Him.
Gold is refined in intense heat, the impurities from the gold come to the top, are removed, and the process starts over, until finally not only are there no more impurities, but the goldsmith can see his reflection in the gold. God wants to remove the impurities caused by the sin in our lives, so He can see His reflection in us. Trial by fire may seem like the most painful and stressful thing to endure, but God will not test you if He didn’t think you could pass with flying colors. God knows you. He knows your strengths and your weaknesses, and He will never take you further than you can go at the time. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:4
I have been blessed that God has allowed me to endure some painful and challenging experiences. I am fully aware that there are countless other people out there who have had to endure things that I can’t even begin to fathom. I am grateful for the opportunities God has given me because of those experiences, and the testimonies that have come from them. I pray that the testimonies from my experiences will bless you and encourage you…
